NULGE Ondo State Holds Health Lecture for Women Wing

The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) Ondo State branch held a health lecture for the women wing of the union on Saturday, January 8, 2024. The lecture, which was part of the events marking the NULGE health week and the handover ceremony of the outgoing executives, was aimed at educating the women on how to optimize their health and well-being during midlife.

The lecture took place at the NULGE secretariat, in Akure, and was attended by over 200 women from across the 18 local government areas of the state. The lecture was titled “Optimizing Health in Middle Age: Strategies for Managing Well-being During Midlife” and was facilitated by Mrs. Isimijola, an expert public health analyst and health educator.

Mrs. Isimijola spoke about the various physical, psychological, and social changes that occur during middle age, and how they affect the health and well-being of women. She emphasized the importance of adopting strategies that include regular exercise, balanced diet, regular health check-ups, and premenopausal management for women. She also highlighted the role of social support, stress management, and self-care in enhancing the quality of life of women in midlife.

The lecture was interactive and engaging, as the women asked questions, shared their experiences, and learned from each other. The facilitator also used practical examples, illustrations, and demonstrations to make the lecture more interesting and informative.

The lecture was also graced by the presence of Dr. Samuel Abiona and Mrs. Adeyemi, the Chairman and member of the NULGE Health Committee, respectively. They used the medium to further admonish the women on the importance of paying attention to their health and taking advantage of the NULGE Health Scheme, which provides easy and affordable access to quality health care services for local government workers in Ondo State.

The NULGE President, Ondo State, Comrade Bola Taiwo, who will be handing over to Comrade Frederick Akinrinlola on Sunday, January 9, 2024, also addressed the women and reminded them of the reason behind the establishment of the NULGE Health Scheme. He said the scheme was his vision to improve the health status and well-being of local government workers in the state, and urged the women to make use of it. He also thanked the women for their support and cooperation during his tenure, and wished them all the best in their future endeavors.

The health lecture was a successful and enlightening event, as the women learned valuable tips and strategies on how to optimize their health and well-being during midlife. The women also expressed their appreciation to the facilitator, the NULGE Health Committee, and the NULGE President for organizing the lecture and for their concern for their health. The women also pledged to apply what they learned and to share the information with their colleagues and families.

The NULGE health week is a platform to showcase the union’s accomplishments, challenges, and prospects, as well as to appreciate and honour its members and stakeholders.
