It is with a heart of gratitude to God that I warmly welcome His Excellency, Honourable Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa, Governor of Ondo State, members of the State Executive Council, the National Leadership of our Union led by the National President, Comrade Akeem Ambali and members of the National Executive Council (NEC), eminent personalities, distinguished guests and well-wishers to this epoch making occasion of the inauguration of the State Administrative Council (SAC) of NULGE/ Ondo State Chapter. I give glory to God for guiding all of us here and for giving us the grace to gather today in this momentous occasion.
I wish to sincerely congratulate and appreciate members of the immediate past State Administrative Council (SAC), under the able leadership of Comrade Bola Taiwo for their selfless service to the development of the Union in Ondo State, most especially for building on the solid foundation laid down by our founding fathers and progressive predecessors. The positive role of all local government workers in ensuring sustenance of peace and progress across the State is highly appreciated and commended.
Your Excellency, ladies and gentlemen, much as today is not a day to make long speeches, it is with heavy hearts that workers in the Local Government Service of Ondo State express our sympathy to the people of the Sunshine State on the painful exit of our late workers-friendly Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu SAN, CON. Our late Arakunrin was an epitome of courage, consistency and integrity while he was with us. His legacies and indelible footprints will remain with us for a long time. May the Almighty God grant the renowned ‘Amotekun General’ eternal rest, Amen. It is pertinent to use this medium to appreciate the government of Ondo State for being a veritable partner with NULGE. I sincerely hope that the bond of love and understanding that bind us together would continue to wax stronger, so that, the Local Government Service of Ondo State will continue to progress.
At this juncture, on behalf of entire workers in the Local Government Service of Ondo State, I wish to once again humbly reiterate our genuine request for the appointment of more Permanent Secretaries in the Local Government Service of Ondo State. This clarion call has been on for a long time as the service has only three (3) Permanent Secretaries appointed into the Boards of the Local Government Service Commission, Loans Board and the Pension Transitional Department since year 2010. However, considering the importance of the Local Government Service as a critical arm of the State Public Service, we wish to use this medium to humbly appeal to Your Excellency to consider our genuine request and approve the appointment of more Permanent Secretaries in the Local Government Service of Ondo State.
On our own part, I hereby affirm that the Union shall continue to advance our convictions with humility and civility, pursue workers interests with greater courage and speak for justice and compassion as we call for responsibility and commitment among our members. We shall continue to bring the values of our history to the value of our times and manifest the highest standards of integrity.
On behalf of the entire Local Government workers in Ondo State, we pledge our continued loyalty and support for your administration.
Before I end this address, I wish to express my sincere appreciation to my wife, children, friends and family members for their steadfast love and support so far. With a heart-full of gratitude, on behalf of myself and other members of the State Administrative Council (SAC), I wish to sincerely and heartily appreciate the leadership of our Union at the National and State levels for providing a level playing ground in bringing us on board through a seamless democratic electoral process in September 2023. The cooperation and committed efforts of our teeming members in all the eighteen (18) Local Governments and the three Boards are greatly commended and sincerely appreciated in this regard.
Finally, Your Excellency, eminent guests, distinguished Union Leaders, fellow Local Government Workers, you are once again welcome to this epoch making occasion, and wish you safe journey back to your respective destinations.
